Hello Dimitri,

First let me say thanks for making the effort to put this site together to share Steve Coleman's music with other fans.

I have one suggestion for the site, but don't know how do able it is. I think if you added a chat feature, it would drastically change the traffic, interaction, and discussion on this site. The back and forth posting is cool but slow, and because of the time lag the discussions aren't as dynamic as they could be. Admittedly, I don't know what all of thre technical issues are/maybe. Anyway, it's just a thought. I'll continue to enjoy the site regardless.

As I did everything by myself Laughing

I dont know yet how to implement a chat feature, will think of it when I get back from tour in late july.

Hopefully, others will comment whether they think it's a good idea or not so that you can better judge whether it's something really worth your time and effort. Also, another forum member might have the technical expertise to make some recommendations as to how it might be accomplished.

My opinion about CHAT:

I would try to take part. But I see some problems: My English is so bad that I constantly need a dictionary and I need much time to find a way to express what I want to say. So I’m very slow. – It can be impossible for me to sit in front of the computer at a certain time. The different time in the different countries may be an additional problem.

Currently my time for improvements goes to :

1 Database
Im learning SQL now to build my own database, this will be a great improvment I think

2 Improving the general look of the site, especially the archives section.
Will be done when database is fully operationnal

Couple of things:

You could have different chat rooms for both french and english...no problem, but I'd like to see you there, Manfred. I think you're more concerned about your english than you need to be. Just let your words go and don't worry about it. Heck, sometimes I just grunt to get my point across. Very Happy

I think that the problem that we're facing here at the forum is that he is too complex for mainstreem society to take notice. I mean, I highly doubt that Mr. Coleman is rich, meaning that he's not number one in CD sales. The world just doesn't understand. My own cousin, who plays drum, can't deal with the beats of Coleman. Its too intense, he says he can't "tap his foot" to Coleman. That's sad because not only am I tapping my foot, but I'm tapping my FEET and both hands. We live in an impatient world that needs instant gratification. We live in world where we don't want to learn rhythms. The deeper the rhythm, the deeper the appreciation.
