Hello everybody!

This is my first message here so if i may make a few mistakes, sorry.

After a few years, i'm still completely stunned by this insane tune that is Country Bama. After a quick check of the Archives, i cant' find any other trace of this song (live or in studio). Was it a one-night only improvisation at the Hot Brass in 1995 or can i find this masterpiece somewhere else?

Thanks for answering!

hello Rainbow

I guess its a one night only song as I havent found any other concert featuring this track as of yet.

AND I do remember (I havent the track with me) that it sounds like Steve is singin the bass line and drum chant to the group at the beginning, right ?
or maybe it's fade in and I heard the complete track from the HotBrass recordings vaults at Steve's..dont remember exactly.

I love that song too, and Gene brings a lot to it, this is heavy ! To me it sounds like only Gene can play this....that way.

Now Ill have to download it from Steve's website (I hope it's there) cause I badly want to listen to it... Laughing

Dim.

Too bad, i'll have to stick to this only version.

On the cd, the track starts with the bass beginning very softly so maybe before during the set, Steve was humming the bass line, i don't know. And i guess you are very lucky to have heard the whole Hot Brass recordings. I'd pay a lot to hear that!!!

And you are right, Gene Lake is completely on fire on this tune. Crazy, crazy stuff.

Thanks for your answer Dimitri (and congrats for this awesome website!)
