Bonjour Dimitri.

Cordialement.

L. B.

Hello.

Arh.
Too bad, it would have been nice to meet you there.
Concerning filming the concert, I hope a kamikaze DV owner will try his luck and shoot the concert.
Even if, in this situation, a front row clear shot, seems out of the question... Very Happy Very Happy

Yes Grenoble is far, personnaly I come From Nantes which is only 2 hours by TGV from Paris, so it's quite easy.

Best.

Hello.

I try now in english don't know if it's great, lol.

One of the best show i ever see for now.

The fusion of both groups Five Elements / Opus AKoben was amazing, i hope to see once again this formation, mix of classic jazz and funky hip-hop.
Both drummers delivered strong rhythm, even though Tyshawn Sorey has the most presence on stage.
The classic singer Jen Shiu gave beautiful contrast with rapid-fire raps of Kokayi and Sub-Zero (who also made some jamaican dub sounds on keyboards unobstrusive but nice).
The Pro-Verb Trio came on the second applause to recall the band back.
Some great solos of almost all musicans, and some awesome improvisations too: by example Kokayi and Sorey !!
Even though a large part of the audience was sitting on chair, the atmosphere was really enthousiastic, the show was some bomb !!

When living the place i'd understand that some audio tape was made for the musicians, but don't know if that will be in store one day.

thanks a lot for your comments guys Wink

please write it in english also this way as much people as possible can read them.

I had Steve on skype after the show and he confirmed the show went great, there was good vibes among the musicians too.

he also told me that the day after the gig he got an email from Chuck D. (Public enemy) who was in the audience on that day, saying he liked the music they played Cool

There is an audio and video available, I hope to get my hands on it one day in the future.

Chuck D is one of my favourite rappers, Public Enemy has made some "classics" of old school hip-hop !! Check "Muse-sick-n-hour-mess-age" one of the best rap album ever !!
I heard he was playing with Archie Shepp on "Sons d'Hiver".
If some other rappers were going to Steve's Metrics shows, i bet hip-hop would be different than nowaday's crap (50 Cent, Eminem, Puff Daddy,...).

By the way if some guys in this forum are "real hip-hop" fans, i recommand you to listen to Percee P.
He's an old school cat from the boogie down Bronx, and had made some classics tunes. He has made recently an album on the StonesThrow Label named "Perseaverance", but music is not that good (due to Madlib electro productions), so check his former album "Legendary Status" which is a compilation of all his songs commercialized on vinyl back in the days.
If you like quick rapid-fire raps on funky James Brown sample you'll love it Wink

I love that kind of stuff... Public Enemy is great.. Only recently I discovered such band as Brand Nubian, Digable Planets... ! I'll check Percee P as soon as I get an internet connection at home... ( I just moved ).. Nowadays I find that many rappers are playing more and more with jazzmen, or at least with instruments players... and I'm really glad about it... I guess we all are !!

yeah Brand Nubian has made some great albums too
i'll contribute to a topic soon on fusion of rap and jazz in this forum, cause a lot of rappers and jazzmen have made some funky stuff: Steve Coleman (of course lol), Greg Osby, Gary Thomas, Brandford Marsalis,...
Guru, The Roots, Mos Def, A Tribe Called Quest...

So there is an audio or video...?
No need to say I would love to do the cover for this one, CD or DVD I don't mind!

That's when I've done the Burghausen... ouch... Embarassed

I hope this recoding will not end in Steve Coleman's vault.
