| Would you be so nice to say hello because it is too lonesome here.
(“I just dropped by to say hello” is the title of a song which Johnny Hartman sang. – My English is bad and so this title came to my mind to verbalize what I want to say)

| Hi everyone,
I'm chaamba from Paris, jazzfan. I still have to discover a lot of wonders in the Steve Coleman discography, and will be glad to have your recommendations. I look forward to the future discussions on this forum, and will be trying to add my two cents of euro in this humble english of mine. |

| Hy Everybody,
I'm Jibril from Paris. I would like to thanks a lot M. Dimiti Louis for this site and this so beautifull work about M. Coleman ' music. For me it's like to have acces to the Chan Parker private tapes ! M. Coleman is the Great Master oh our time ! For Chambaa, you can download the "live à la Vilette" with AfroCuba de Matanzas (03/07/97). The music is incredible and Sean Rickman is really maniac...I don't know very well the actual combo of M. Coleman but the duo Tidd/Rickman was powerfull. |

| Hi! Great initiative, Dimitri. I'm listening to the Middelheim concert at the moment, great stuff. Though I like people like Gene Lake, ultimately I'm probably more of a fan of someone like Nasheet Waits, who plays more jazzily and loosely (don't get me wrong, Lake is amazing). I look forward to checking out the other concerts. _________________ be.jazz: jazz blog |

| Hi Folks,
Nice to see some people around here
This is the very beginning of this forum so it may take a little while to have everyday new post but eventually we will make it.
Im very glad to see that you have found some great music here but as I always say, It's not my fault
Thanks goes to Steve Coleman for giving me the chance to build this site in 2002.
I made him a proposition because by then I was personnaly collecting his music thru my personnal recordings made with DAT recorder and thru internet sharing groups on the other hand, and I thought he deserves some organised archives. After a few months I had the chance to come by his house and that was it !
Im now working with him as a tour manager and I must thank him for giving me a chance back in 2003.
Dont forget to check and buy the official CD's _________________ www.stevecolemanarchives.com |

| Hi Jibril!
I also think: Steve Coleman’s music is at the highest stage next to the music of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane etc..
Sean Rickman: I searched for a video where Rickman’s playing is viewable well and I found: 19/10/02 Teatro Verdi, Padova, Italy. Video available in the FTP - on Congas: Ramon Garcia Perez (member of AfroCuba de Matanzas)!
Over and over I have enjoyed to watch all these great musicians on the DVD “Elements Of One” (AfroCuba de Matanzas, Miguel Anga, Sean Rickman, the musicians from Senegal – great!)
Hi Mwanji!
>> Nasheet Waits plays more jazzily and loosely than Oliver Lake <<
I think: The more stable and heavy character of Lake’s drumming makes a nice contrast to Steve Coleman’s very agile and versatile playing.
Furthermore: The complex rhythmical structures of Steve Coleman’s music often seem to be created a bit different than in more traditional Jazz: Several different rhythms interfere with each other! It seems to be a bit more like crossing patterns in African music even though the Jazz tradition also is present. – For example: “Octagonal Dance Abstract” (CD: Alternate Dimension Series I, take 5). Free download from Steve Coleman’s homepage!
Since I have got a preference for those rhythms the older Jazz rhythms mostly don’t sound challenging enough in my ears. |

| Hi BassLobster!
I think Dimitri didn’t notice your offer of concert recordings in the “Request”-Forum till now. You know he is on tour now. But I guess we all are interested in that what you offered. Please have patience.
Welcome!
