Dimitri,
If ever you need help while recording a concert or a show in the US, let me know. Like needing somebody for a second camera or something.

Actually how is the server situation for now ? Do you still have storage space issues ?

Thanks for the offer Charles,

About the server, well the server is on my Hard drive here at home !
Im using my laptop Mac to host the file and I've setup a FTP from my home with my DSL connection, it is running everyday, everynight since march...well almost !

I've added the donate button to collect money to buy a new hard drive and a cheap computer to host the file because my macintosh is very slow when Im having FTP exchange.

But I was a little optimistic and so far only 2 people donate Smile

that's no big deal, I dont do this for money...i've spent so much time on this archives since I started back in 2002 that it is a completely crazy thing !
About money, before having the FTP setup, I was doin some CD or DVD exhange by Post office and it costed me around 100€ / month during 4 years !
If you add the .com and the hosting of the site and everything related to this archives website....
I dont do this for money I can tell you Cool

My hard drive is actually almost full, but Ill add more files later this summer.

Of course I was thinkin of some kind of torrents website to host the file then everybody share it via a P2P program. Ill see what Ill do and I need to talk with Steve about that.
The idea why I did some FTP thing was that I wanted to have one centralised point where you could find downloads and to be sure of the quality and origin.

Dimitri.

Of course I understood that you are not in this for money. And I command you for that.

Can you elaborate about torrent, what is it exactly ?

Also you did not answer the question about getting some help for concerts or events in the US.

Charles,

The torrent file system is a P2P sharing files. The general idea is that the files are not hosted on 1 computer but rather everyone who has the file in his computer share it. This way availability is optimum and transfer rate is usaully great.

see this article for more infos :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent

Im using the AZUREUS client myself and this is working great.

about the recoding in the states, well, why not.
Im based in paris myself and I dont know when Ill be going to NYC. I know Steve play regurlarly at the Jazz Gallery every monday, some kind of workshops very interresting so if you want to go, let me know and Ill ask Steve to let you tape it.

There is a couple of gigs in europe in late august/september and I dont know yet if Ill be with the band. Then next tour is scheduled for next spring.

Thanks for the offer Charles,
Dimitri.

Dimitri,

Maybe if you detail the equipment you are trying to obtain, the price/financial target as a goal, and update that information this might encourage individuals capable of contributing to do so. Just a thought.

Dim,

As soon as my bills don't exceed my income, I'll be shipping off some money. Coleman needs the exposure and I want to make sure that happens.

My wife and I are both starting over. We're at the bottom of our working careers and building up from there, so it'll be a while, but we'll get there soon enough.

I thank you for your love of Mr Coleman's musical expressions. This is a brotherhood and we need to support each other.
