I'd say it sounded just awesome, although I didn't arrive early enough, so I couldn't see anything from under the marquee so I had to sit on the grassy fields. Neutral

They were at least comfortable (even if a little too sunny)...

I couldn't really enjoy it as if I was sitting in front of it, so I expect much of the video to tell me what really happened, then again I can make a proper comment out of it... Smile

hi everyone,

i got the chance to be at the parc floral last saturday, that what a very good show for sure
i was late but the sound check seemed to take longer time than previewed, so i was feelin lucky on this time Smile

lots of people there to see Steve Coleman and his band, but not really the usual type of afficionados i'd see last time i came to see him play : very enthousiastic maybe too much like the type to applause all concert long, so sometimes kind of hard to hear the music Mad

anyway the musicians where at their best: special mention to Sorey and Nichols who were awesome playing together, all vocalists were impressive : Jen Shyu and Kokayi in particular, even Steve has done some scat joinin other vocalists
the whole concert alternate some groovy songs with more classical tunes which had balanced the all thing between funk and jazz
a large part of the crowd quit the spot before the bis repetita, too bad for them cause it was awesome again lol

i hope a tape will appear on the ftp, as well as the show @ Sons d'Hiver last february starring the same musicians which was so great too !

ps: on sunday afternoon David Murray was playing with Hamid Drake, i had'nt see them before and it was very impressive, Murray has some powerful sound coming off his sax
it makes me think this week-end had seen two of the greatest sax players of this time

very quickyl, more info after the WE.

technically, the audio is ok but some reverb on Jen Shyu's vocals for the first 25 mins was not needed. the mix has the bass low but overall quailty is ok i guess.

The video is only for the regular gig, no encore as I was busy doing somehting else. The video quality is average, I have a problem with my tripod, in fact there is some unwanted moves that are a bit disturbing when watching the concert.

Audio available next week, video I dont know when yet.

Hey !
I was there too though I arrived a bit late too... I found myself a spot where I could still see the stage... and I really enjoyed that concert. Quite a lot of people there, and the place is really nice. Dimitri, I asked for you there at the end of the concert because I don't know how you look like ! But I think I didn't find the right persons... they didn't know who you where, and I didn't want to insist too much, as I'm a bit shy !!! I hope we can meet sometimes to another concert, send me a picture of you the next time !! Anyway that was a really good afternoon and that has to be done again ! When is the next concert ?!!

Just an anecdote : when I heard SF Jazz Collective playing before, I really thought Brian Blade was on drums ! This Eric Harland has the same sound and the same playing than Blade (when he plays in Wayne Shorter quartet) Very Happy

I think there's a problem with the ID3 tags !

I added the tracks to my iTunes and now I just can't find them anymore !

They're nor in the "Steve Coleman" Folder, neither in the "Steve Coleman & Five Elements" one, not even in the "Steve Coleman and Metrics"...

How did you fill the "Artist" line ?

Help please lol!
