The sound-quality is good enough to give you a vividly impression of this very diversified music and the wonderful atmosphere of that concert. It begins with slow tunes - among others with ·Lush Life· (B. Strayhorn). Later a group of four Cuban female singers appears and sings ·Giant Steps· (Coltrane) and ·Lush Life·. It is interesting to hear Steve Coleman and Jonathan Finlayson improvising over ·Giant Steps·. Even during long and difficult passages (on the second CD) the audience is so enthusiastic that it shows in an impressive manner how much this highly developed music has that direct and original effect which has made Jazz so convincing. Steve Coleman answers the enthusiasm of the audience and a Ping-Pong of communication arises with an infectious atmosphere. |
